A LOW HUM believes in working very closely with a small roster. I’m not looking to have a gigantic list of releases, but still always looking for anything new and interesting. If you’d like to send me your demos/record, please do. My address is on the right hand side of this page.

These days, when it seems the vogue for bands from New Zealand to name drop things like: “Album recorded in London at Blah Blah by Blah Blah who recorded Blah Blah and mastered by Blah Blah at Blah Blah who mastered Blah Blah and Blah Blah”, it’s quite refreshing that one of New Zealand’s most unassuming and prolific digital-pop stars is happy to do it all himself.
The Enright House - A Maze and Amazement is probably something of chimera in terms of sound: instead of being one third lion, one third she-goat, and one third serpent, however, we are probably more one part indie-pop, one rather large part post-rock and one rather not-so-large part electronica.

Mount Pleasant is Christchurchs’ Jonathan Phillips. He writes very frustrating music. Beautiful and moving, yet often unsatisfying and annoying, Songs end abruptly, fade out or simply end way before you’re ready. They tease with tempting hooks and then just like they pick you up, they drop you straight back down again. Reflecting the cheap lo-fi manner in which they were recorded, songs either peak and distort, or are so quiet you need to lean into your stereo just to hear it. It took some time, but after several listens, I’m now totally putty listening to this record.
Be putty too.
