January 2009 Newsletter

Merry Christmas everybody! I hope everyone has had a sweet Xmas break so far. I have spent all week hunched over my laptop coming up with demented ideas for camp and am starting to get seriously excited, only six weeks now until chaos descends on Homedale.

CAMP A LOW HUM

Everything is cranking! I’ve had SO many bookings for renegade shows, as of today I am no longer taking any more pre-bookings for renegade spots… this doesn’t mean there won’t be the chance to play if you haven’t already booked one, but to make sure there is a good healthy dose of spontaneous stuff happen, I limited the pre-bookings to a max of 22. Man….and there are some damn awesome renegade bands playing, STOKED.

The official lineup has somehow creeped up to 60 bands, so that’s 82 acts booked (including renegades) and still more renegade shows and ridiculous stuff that will surely eek its way out over the event! Nuts.

There are some more announcements on the website for stuff happening, like Boxwars 2 and the mixtape swap. More coming soon…

I have popped a whole bunch more vids from Camp 2008 online, including The Family Cactus, Batrider, Liam Finn, Tiger Tones/Boxwars, Boss Christ and the epic So So Modern feat: Mc Stormtroopa and Tommy iLL. Many more still to come.

I am totally getting over youtubes crappy codecs so am mainly using Vimeo now, however if you goto: www.campalowhum.com and click on “Camp08 Videos”, I always update that with the new ones anyway….or just click here: http://www.campalowhum.com/camp08videos.html

Tickets for Camp are on sale now, goto www.campalowhum.com and click on “tickets”

RADIO NZ LIVE TAKEOVER (Mixtape sessions)

On Sat Jan 3rd at 4pm I am taking part in a special Radio NZ summer series called “Mixtape” where a special guest (whats up y’all) chosen by RadioNZ gets to takeover the airwaves for an hour. I’ll be playing music inspired by my 5 months touring with Over the Atlantic throughout this year, I’ll be playing songs by some bands we played with, bands we discovered, our favourite tracks we played in the car, and also, knowing me… won’t be able to stop telling a few anecdotes from our travels as well.

To listen, go to www.radionz.co.nz for tuning in details, you can listen online as well, by going here: http://www.radionz.co.nz/audio
